The Stow vest is crafted from luxurious Shetland wool, originating from sheep in the north of Scotland and traditionally known as sailor wool. In the 1800s, women on the Shetland Islands were already using it to knit warm clothes that the men would then either wear during their trips at sea, or use as trade goods with other vessels. Shetland wool is still to this day an extremely
