this locket was meant to be engraved with an image or monogram

they feature an early lever-back closure which threads through the back of the ear and attaches to a rivet at the top of the earrings

The locket closes securely with some oxidation to the side that we have left as a mark of authenticity

I had to double it to photograph it on the mannequin but please note that it is meant to be worn as one long chain

It was likely cut down at some point in its long history from a long guard chain, creating a lovely half guard chain which can be worn long or worn twice around the neck as a 'ras de cou'.
