Chateau Montrose, Saint Estephe La Dame de Montrose 2017 Verdejo the latter a grape varietyAccording to local legend, when the heather was in flower, the hillsides turned pink. In time, sailors on the Garonne river referred to the area as "Mont Rose", which gave its name to the estate. The 95 hectares vineyard of Chteau Montrose is planted to 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot with vines that are on average close to 40 years of age. It has a hillside terroir of deep gravel, with sand and clay soil.
