Someone has kindly informed us this tool is similar to a cork borer they used to use to make holes in cork and rubber bungs through which one inserts glass tubing but this is not quite the same

Supplied in the cardboard box it was housed in when we received it (label tape says southern watch and clock supplies)

this one is in pretty good shape
