During the intense heat of wood firing, feldspar granules expanded and burst through the clay walls, creating a dense ishihaze (stone explosion) texture across both the exterior and interior surfaces, guiding the eye down to a thick pool of natural wood ash glaze (biidoro) at the bottom.
