Not very bordeaux – more reminiscent of some of the more ambitious Spanish reds at the moment

This is flat out terrific with fantastic upside potential but I caution that there is zero point in buying this without the intent to allow it to age

I have actually encountered better bottles than this

Artadi, Pagos Viejos Vintage:2011 Not very bordeaux – moreRuby red. Smoky raspberry and cherry aromas are complicated by minerals, lavender and rooty sassafras. Suave red and dark berry flavors are complicated and deepened by exotic spicecake and sweet licorice. Impressively integrated tannins add gentle support. Pulls off the trick of outstanding concentration with finesse and finishes with superb precision and length. While still young, this is lovely today. Josh Raynolds
