The design is deeply rooted in Navajo culture. At its center is the Lake of Emergence, from which humans and all living things are said to have entered this world. The four corners of the rug represent the sacred mountains of the Navajo: Sis Naajini (Sierra Blanca) in the east, Tsoodzil (Mt. Taylor) in the south, the Dook'
