Choosing an image to paint is one of the most difficult things about my job

I started this painting before COVID

Many of the scenes in these works have already changed—or disappeared—making this book both a celebration of Down East’s remarkable character and a record of what time has taken

Waiting on Wind sails I struggled to get bothI love the mystery that seems to settle in the water in small marinas. The stories that each boat could tell as most of the port of calls listed on the sterns of the boats are out of state. This is a marina on the river near Elizabeth City NC.
